Ecosoft P1-meter

Ecosoft P1-meter with built-in PV-system control

In some countries like the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, smart meters often have a P1 port. This port is used to send current energy consumption and other metering data. Connect the Ecosoft P1-meter to this port to obtain insights in energy consumption.

Possibilities

• View power consumption data and meter read-outs from smart meter
• Reduce power output of a PV-system to prevent feeding back if the price is below a certain value
• Turn off PV-systems if the price is below a certain value
• Send data on power consumption and feeding back to the Ecosoft SGC-2, which is then able to prevent feeding back to switch on a heat pump
• Read-out of PV-systems

View power consumption data

The Ecosoft P1-meter is connected to the P1 port of the smart meter in the fuse box. The smart meter sends the current power consumption data to the P1-meter. View the data in the web interface of the P1-meter. Send the data (optionally) to the Ecosoft cloud server, when the data can be stored and presented in graphs.

Reduce or interrupt power output of PV-systems

The P1-meter can control supported inverters directly to prevent feeding back electricity to the grid. This is almost always don via the SunSpec Modbus protocol, but a Growatt protocol is suppported as well.

According to documentation and our testing, we expect that the P1-meter is able to control a number of inverters, including: SMA SUNNY HIGHPOWER PEAK3, SMA SUNNY TRIPOWER CORE1, SolaX A1 Series Inverters, QCells Q.HOME⁺ HYB-G1, QCells Q.HOME⁺ AC-G1, Yaskawa XGI Series en Growatt (TL-X, TL3-X). See supported inverters.

Sending data to the SGC-2

Send data on power consumption and feeding back to the Ecosoft SGC-2, which is then able to prevent feeding back to switch on a heat pump. The SGC-2 has relays you can connect to EVU or SG-Ready contacts of an heat pump. The SGC switches the heat pump to a higher consumption state on the right moment to benefit from the produced energy instead of feeding it back to the grid.
Note: This is possible with a P1-meter and an SGC-2, but also with an SG-Hub, which has a built-in P1-meter.

Read out solar panels

The P1-meter receives data on the total power consumption via the smart meter. If the P1-meter in addition receives data about the solar energy production from the inverter, you can view a graph at the Ecosoft cloud server which shows the real power consumption.

The Solar yield (yellow line) is substracted from the grid total (black line). The result is the Total power draw (purple line). In this example, the purple line show some peaks in the afternoon showing that a device is consuming power in those moments.

License

The P1-meter comes with a 1 or 3 year license. With this license, the P1-meter can receive electricity prices from the internet and can be connected to the Ecosoft cloud server. The license is extendable.
